What is Qualified and how does it differ from Inscribed, Revised, & Apto?
The grading "Qualified" is more stringent and more detailed than the basic grading of "Revised /aka Apto. "
QUALIFIED is the highest level of grading of the PRE.
INSCRIPTION is the registering of a PRE foal into the Spanish Stud Book at birth.
REVISED is the first grading, at 3-4 years of age.
APTO - technically an incorrect term - is sometimes used to indicate Revision.

Grading of the Spanish Horse
The grading of PREs worldwide is a precisely monitored process conducted by recognised representatives of the Spanish Stud Book.
The Qualified grading for a PRE breeding stallion is performed by a select committee of veterinary and breeding experts.
USPRE, (representative of ANCCE and the Spanish Stud Book in the US), lists the relatively few Qualified PRE stallions currently available for breeding in the USA. Tomillo VII is one of these.
What Does Qualified Mean to a PRE Breeder in the United States or Canada?
No matter where you are in the States or Canada, breeding to a Qualified spanish stallion means you can work with frozen semen and AI. This gives a PRE breeder the opportunity to breed to a stud stallion of merit.
Tomillo VII, the PRE stallion standing at stud at Half Moon Dressage Center, is a pure spanish stud stallion Qualified in Spain for breeding.
As a competitor in Spain, Tomillo won in both breed and dressage classes, he is now proving himself in the US. With his classic PRE bloodlines, and wonderful character, he is a great match for breeding to any mare.
